Today, Tuesday, April 17, 2012 truly marks the end of the “Be Yourself” era. Danny Tenaglia is “resigning” from a long and storied career as a DJ that began in New York City in the 1970’s. In a long status update to his over 121,000 fans on facebook, he explains how a head cold and the loss of some very important personal belongings on the return home from a recent trip were the omens that precipitated his decision. He stresses that it’s something that’s been a long time coming however, and that financial pressures to maintain his legendary NYC loft and his residence in Miami have forced him to make some difficult decisions, which include letting the loft go and deciding what to do with his belongings which include over 10k records. Among his parting words was the mention that “there has to BE something else (or someone) out there waiting” for him. While he’s careful to stress it’s not a full retirement, he does point out all future gigs with the exception of his belated birthday party at Pacha NYC on April 28th will be canceled. We wish Danny all the best in his future endeavors and can’t wait to get a hold of his set from the 28th
